SK Austria Klagenfurt's next home fixture in the Regionalliga Süd is on the agenda for Friday evening. At 19:20, the Violets welcome SVG Bleiburg to the Wörthersee Stadion. The change on the coaching bench will also be in focus: Carsten Jancker will take charge of the team in a competitive match for the first time since his return as head coach.

After the two away defeats against SK Treibach (0-3) and WAC Amateure (0-2), Austria want to get back on track in front of their own fans. The most recent performances in particular have shown that the team needs to improve in several areas. Too rarely have the Violets managed to impose their attacking game and create clear-cut chances of late.

Carsten Jancker is now set to provide fresh impetus. The 52-year-old took over the coaching role from Slobodan Grubor on Wednesday and led his first training session that same day. Austria are familiar territory for Jancker: he was already on the touchline for the Klagenfurt side back in spring 2025.

The coaching change comes at a time when Austria, despite the recent setbacks, are still among the frontrunners in the league. After ten rounds, the Klagenfurt side sit second in the table on 19 points, three behind leaders ATUS Velden. With a home win against Bleiburg, the Violets want to keep in touch with the top.

In SVG Bleiburg, however, Austria face an opponent against whom they already experienced a hard-fought encounter in the first meeting. At the end of August, the Klagenfurt side came away with a 4-3 win. After going 2-0 down early on, the Violets fought their way back, took the lead for the first time in the closing stages and immediately had to concede an equaliser. Only a late header from Aleks Ristic secured the away win.

Bleiburg's current form also shows that Austria cannot afford to underestimate the task. The SVG most recently beat SV Donau Klagenfurt 3-1 and travel to Klagenfurt sixth in the table on nine points.

For the team, it is now all about bringing more stability and consistency back into their game under the new head coach. In attack in particular, Austria must improve on the last two outings. The home match against Bleiburg offers the next opportunity to do just that.
