A real highlight awaits the women of SK Austria Klagenfurt in November. On Saturday, 7 November, at 1:00 pm, the Violets host reigning Austrian champions Austria Wien in the ÖFB Frauen Cup. The match will be played at the Wörthersee Stadion.
With the side from Vienna, one of the strongest teams in Austrian women's football right now is coming to Klagenfurt. Austria Wien claimed the league title last season and are also representing Austria internationally this year. In the UEFA Women's Champions League, they are currently facing some of the best sides in Europe.
Just how strong our upcoming cup opponents are has been underlined by their international outings so far. Against English top club Chelsea, Austria Wien went down by just 1-0. They then picked up a point against Inter Milan in a 1-1 draw.
That means one of the biggest sporting challenges of the season so far awaits Robert Micheu's side. At the same time, it is an opportunity for the Austria women to test themselves head-to-head against the Austrian champions and Champions League participants.
