SK Austria Klagenfurt face their next task in the Regionalliga Süd on Friday evening. The Violets take on VST Völkermarkt away from home on 16 October at 19:00. After the 1-1 draw against SVG Bleiburg, head coach Carsten Jancker's side are aiming for all three points once again.
In last Friday's home game against Bleiburg, Austria made the perfect start. Florian Weiss put Klagenfurt in front as early as the fourth minute. The Violets dictated the play for long spells but were unable to extend their lead. In the 67th minute the visitors found a surprise equaliser, leaving Austria to settle for a single point despite a committed performance.
For Carsten Jancker it was the first match since his return to the Austria bench. Following the two previous away defeats against Treibach and WAC Amateure, the team showed an improved performance against Bleiburg but once again dropped important points. In Völkermarkt, the next step is now due.
With 20 points from eleven games, Austria remain in the race for the top places in the table. To stay in touch with the leaders, Klagenfurt want to claim a three-point haul on the road.
The Violets already came out on top against Völkermarkt in the first meeting of the season. On 28 August, Austria celebrated a narrow 1-0 home win at the Wörthersee Stadion. Another hard-fought encounter can be expected this time around.
Kick-off at the Lilienberg Arena is on Friday, 16 October, at 19:00.
