SK Austria Klagenfurt and SVG Bleiburg shared the spoils in a 1-1 (1-0) draw at the Wörthersee Stadion on Friday evening. The Violets took the lead as early as the fourth minute through Florian Weiss and dictated proceedings for long spells. Despite plenty of efforts, however, Austria were unable to extend their advantage. The visitors levelled surprisingly in the 67th minute.

After the two away defeats against Treibach and WAC Amateure, Austria were eager to collect three points again in front of their home crowd. It was also the first match under Carsten Jancker, who had taken over as head coach just a few days earlier.

The Klagenfurt side started the game with plenty of drive and had reason to celebrate after just four minutes. Florian Weiss put Austria 1-0 up early on for the perfect start.

The Violets remained the more active side as the game went on. Austria controlled proceedings, repeatedly looked to push forward and put the Bleiburg defence under pressure. What was missing was the second goal to make the lead more comfortable. So despite having the greater share of the play, it was a narrow 1-0 at the break.

Little changed after the restart. Austria continued to set the tone and worked on extending their lead. The visitors offered next to nothing going forward but, with the scoreline so tight, remained in the contest.

Then came the unexpected setback in the 67th minute. Practically out of nowhere, Marcel Florian Primozic made it 1-1. A goal that turned the course of the match on its head.

The Klagenfurt side were not discouraged and tried to win the game in the time remaining. With fresh legs in attack, Austria upped the pressure once more, but the hoped-for winner would not come.

After 95 minutes, the scoreboard therefore read 1-1. Austria showed a clear improvement on their last two outings, but could not reward themselves with three points for their effort and a largely convincing performance.

The draw leaves the Violets on 20 points after eleven rounds. The next task in the Regionalliga Süd comes up as early as next Friday, 16 October. Austria travel to VST Völkermarkt at the Lilienberg Arena, with kick-off at 19:00.
