SK Austria Klagenfurt draw 2-2 (0-0) away at ATUS Velden. After a goalless first half, the Violets went ahead twice following the interval, but had to concede the equaliser in the closing stages.
Just three days after the cup clash against Rapid, head coach Slobodan Grubor's side were back in action in the Regionalliga Süd. In a hard-fought first half, Austria initially struggled to create clear-cut chances. Things got dangerous for the first time in the 20th minute after a corner, but several efforts failed to find the back of the net. Mateo Lekaj later tried his luck from distance and sent the ball just wide of the right-hand post.
It was goalless at 0-0 as the teams headed for the dressing rooms. Grubor reacted for the second half, bringing on Jakob Oberguggenberger and Tom Henrik Pfeiffer as two fresh legs for Jaka Kasnik and Matthias Dollinger.
In the 56th minute, the Violets finally took the lead. Tom Henrik Pfeiffer got the better of his man down the left and delivered a dangerous ball into the middle, where Velden's Florian Schaller unluckily turned the cross into his own net.
The hosts drew level at 1-1 in the 71st minute from the penalty spot. Austria's response was not long in coming, though: just four minutes later, Sebastian Pschernig put the Violets back in front.
For a long time it looked like three points. In the 87th minute, however, Al Mahic snatched the 2-2 equaliser for Velden. Six minutes of stoppage time brought no further change to the scoreline.
Austria therefore take a point away from Velden and sit second in the table after six rounds. Once again, there is little time before the next task: Austria host ATSV Wolfsberg at the Wörthersee Stadion on Friday at 19:20.
