SK Austria Klagenfurt have made a change in the coaching position. Carsten Jancker takes over as head coach from Slobodan Grubor with immediate effect. The 52-year-old will take charge of a first team training session for the first time this Wednesday.

Jancker is no stranger at the Austria. Back in the spring of 2025, the former German international took over the Violets in the closing stages of the Bundesliga season. Most recently, the holder of the UEFA Pro Licence was head coach at ASKÖ Oedt. Before that, he worked at SV Horn, FC Marchfeld and DSV Leoben, among others. With Horn he achieved promotion to the 2. Liga, and he led Leoben from the Landesliga via the Regionalliga all the way to the 2. Liga.

Now Jancker returns to Klagenfurt and takes over the team at an important stage of the season. After two defeats in a row, the new head coach is set to turn things around together with the squad.

At the same time, Managing Director Zeljko Karajica thanked Slobodan Grubor for his work at the Austria: “We would like to thank Slobodan for his commitment and the work he has done. He took over the team at an important time and gave everything for the club with great dedication. We wish him all the best for the future, both personally and professionally.”

There is not much time for Jancker before his first competitive match. The Austria host SVG Bleiburg at the Wörthersee Stadion as early as Friday, 9 October, with kick-off at 19:20.
