SK Austria Klagenfurt had to accept their second defeat of the current Regionalliga season on Sunday. The Violets never got going at SK Treibach and ultimately had to settle for a 3-0 (2-0) loss.
After seven league games without defeat, head coach Slobodan Grubor's side wanted to extend their run on the road as well. From the outset, however, Austria struggled to find their usual rhythm. Their own game lacked the necessary precision and bite in the duels, which meant the Violets rarely managed to create anything dangerous going forward.
After 23 minutes, Manuel Tialler put Austria 1-0 behind. Even after that, the Violets were unable to take control of the match or generate enough of a threat in attack. Particularly bitter: just before the half-time whistle, Vahid Muharemovic made it 2-0.
Head coach Slobodan Grubor reacted at the break, bringing on Mateo Lekaj and Daniel Kalajdzic as two fresh faces. The hoped-for response failed to materialise, though. In the 56th minute, Eroll Sabanaj added a third goal against Austria.
Our team never found their game again over the remainder of the afternoon either. The Violets were barely able to set any attacking markers and could not mount a decisive comeback. After 90 minutes, that left a 3-0 defeat which, given the way the match unfolded, was deserved in that scoreline too.
For Austria, that brings an end to a run of seven league games without defeat. After nine rounds, the Violets remain on 19 points and sit second in the table.
Now it is a matter of reviewing the game and showing a different face again next week. The next opportunity to do so comes as soon as Sunday, 4 October. At 3:00 pm, Austria travel to the WAC Amateure.
