The women of SK Austria Klagenfurt remain unbeaten in the 2. Frauen Bundesliga. On Sunday the Violets came away from FCM Traiskirchen with a 2-0 (1-0) win, celebrating their third victory in four league matches.
After the emphatic 8-0 success in Rankweil, a far more hard-fought contest awaited head coach Robert Micheu's side this time around. Austria started the game well, created several chances and managed to grab the opening goal before the break. After that, though, the Violets were unable to add a second straight away. Sloppiness in their own play allowed the hosts to work their way into the match more and more.
The contest remained closely fought after the change of ends as well. Austria kept a clean sheet at the back and finally sealed the result with their second goal. In the end it was a 2-0 away win and another three points for the Violets.
Head coach Robert Micheu was satisfied with the result, but saw room for improvement in the performance: "We started the game pretty well and created a few chances. Unfortunately we couldn't follow up straight after the opening goal. With a lot of sloppiness and a bit of complacency we let our opponents get into the game more and more. Thank goodness we still managed to make it 2-0 in the second half, otherwise it was more of a muddle. But you have to win games like this too. We're happy about the three points and about keeping another clean sheet."
The team therefore continue their strong start to the season. After four rounds the Violets have three wins and a draw to their name and remain unbeaten in the current campaign.
