Austria Turns the Game Around in Velden!

SK Austria Klagenfurt kicked off the 2026/27 competitive season with a victory. In the first round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup, the Violets prevailed 2-1 (0-1) on the road against ATUS Fliesen Koller Velden, securing their spot in the second round.

In front of 1,800 spectators at the Waldarena, Velden got off to a better start and took the lead in the 21st minute through Tom Zurga. Austria struggled in the first half but found their rhythm much better after the break and increased the pressure on the hosts’ goal.

Tristan Schoppitsch scored the well-deserved equalizer in the 72nd minute. Just three minutes later, Alexander Rannacher turned the tide with the goal that made it 2–1, sending the traveling Austria fans into celebration. The team confidently held on to the lead in the closing stages, celebrating their first competitive victory of the new season.

With this victory in Velden, SK Austria Klagenfurt advances to the second round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup. The focus now shifts to the season opener in the Regionalliga Süd: As early as this coming Friday, the Violets will travel to face SV Donau Klagenfurt to kick off the league season.
