SK Austria Klagenfurt continue their run in the Regionalliga Süd. Against ATSV Wolfsberg, the Violets celebrate a deserved 2-0 home win. Jaka Kasnik scored both goals with a brace before the break. The victory sees Austria move to the top of the table.
Austria took control at the Wörthersee Stadion right from the start. The visitors initially sat deep, but the Violets made the breakthrough as early as the 16th minute. Tristan Schoppitsch delivered the ball into the box from the left, where Jaka Kasnik headed home to make it 1-0.
Austria kept up the pressure after that as well. Sebastian Pschernig had the chance to add a second in the 21st minute, but his effort from a tight angle went just wide. In the 34th minute, the Violets finally doubled their lead. After a move involving several players, Alexander Ranacher teed up Kasnik, who powered the ball into the left corner for 2-0. The deserved two-goal lead took them into the break.
After the change of ends, ATSV Wolfsberg showed more courage and got forward more often. Austria were no longer quite able to match their dominant first half, but kept the visitors at arm's length. Lukas Puff had a chance for Wolfsberg in the 51st minute, and later Noah Steinkellner was denied by Manuel Kuttin from a good position.
In the closing stages, Tristan Schoppitsch had the chance to make it 3-0 after a counter-attack, but his effort went over the bar. At the back, the Violets gave nothing away and saw out their lead safely. After 92 minutes, the 2-0 home win was confirmed.
With this success, Austria remain unbeaten for a fifth consecutive league match. After seven rounds, the Violets are on 16 points and take over top spot in the Regionalliga Süd.
